چکیده
Abstract Background Phosphate intake has increased in the last decades due to a higher consumption of processed foods. This is detrimental for patients with chronic kidney disease, increasing mortality and cardiovascular disease risk accelerating dysfunction. Whether high phosphate diet also healthy population still under debate. Methods We fed mature adult mice over period 1 year either (1.2% w/w) or standard (0.6% diet, investigated impact on mineral homeostasis, function bone health. Results The plasma phosphate, parathyroid hormone (PTH) calcitriol levels, no change fibroblast growth factor 23 levels. Urinary calcium ammonium excretion were increased. Measured glomerular filtration rate was apparently unaffected, while blood urea lower clearance animals diet. No observed creatinine Blood urinary pH more acidic paralleled by resorption Total cortical density this effect independent PTH levels observed. Conclusions A did not cause major renal alterations, but affected negatively health, decreasing density.

A Magnesium Based Phosphate Binder Reduces Vascular Calcification without Affecting Bone in Chronic Renal Failure Rats
The alternative phosphate binder calcium acetate/magnesium carbonate (CaMg) effectively reduces hyperphosphatemia, the most important inducer of vascular calcification, in chronic renal failure (CRF). In this study, the effect of low dose CaMg on vascular calcification and possible effects of CaMg on bone turnover, a persistent clinical controversy, were evaluated in chronic renal failure rats....
متن کاملHigh phosphate feeding promotes mineral and bone abnormalities in mice with chronic kidney disease.
BACKGROUND Chronic kidney disease-mineral bone disorder (CKD-MBD) is a systemic syndrome characterized by imbalances in mineral homeostasis, renal osteodystrophy (ROD) and ectopic calcification. The mechanisms underlying this syndrome in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are not yet clear. METHODS We examined the effect of normal phosphate (NP) or high phosphate (HP) feeding in th...

متن کاملHigh-calcium vs high-phosphate intake and small artery tone in advanced experimental renal insufficiency.
BACKGROUND Disturbed calcium-phosphorus balance significantly contributes to uraemic changes in large arteries. We examined the influences of high-calcium and high-phosphate intake on small artery tone in experimental renal insufficiency. METHODS Sixty-five rats were assigned to 5/6 nephrectomy (NTX) or sham operation. After 15 week disease progression, NTX rats were given high-calcium (3%), ...
متن کاملHigh protein intake without concerns?
The high fashion in nutrition for the critically ill is to recommend a high protein intake. Several opinion leaders are surfing on this wave, expanding the suggested protein allowance upwards. At the same time, there is no new evidence supporting this change in recommendations. Observational data show that in clinical practice protein intake is most often far below current ESPEN recommendations...
